New Computer Assistance for Those in Need

Individuals who lack access to a computer may be eligible to receive a new one. This assistance is available to those who demonstrate a need for a computer to facilitate education, employment, or other essential activities.

Total and Permanent Disability Discharge of Federal Student Loans

Federal Loans

Individuals who receive a total and permanent disability (TPD) discharge are no longer obligated to repay their federal student loans. This includes loans obtained through the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program.

TEACH Grant Service Obligation

Individuals with TPD discharges are also exempt from fulfilling their TEACH Grant service obligation. The TEACH Grant provides funding for future teachers who commit to teaching in high-need schools for a specific period.
